From 30th June to 04th July young leaders from the Rwanda Scouts Association gathered at CFS Huye for an inspiring training program titled “Empowering Youth Forum Committees on Leadership,” Through the “Developing Leadership in young people” project funded by the Eric Frank Trust. The initiative aimed to enhance leadership skills and ignite a passion for service among youth forum representatives from various regions.
Participants delved into the fundamental principles of Scouting, focusing on its role in shaping young people holistically through teamwork and community engagement. A significant emphasis was placed on youth leadership in decision-making, modern leadership models, and creating inclusive spaces for genuine youth voices.
The training included impactful sessions on safeguarding, addressing issues like abuse and bullying, to ensure a safe and valued environment for all. Personal well-being, resilience, and healthy life balance were also prioritized, alongside interactive workshops on conflict management and embracing Scouting values.
Key components of the training included:
– Change management and adaptability.
– Intergenerational partnerships.
– Enhanced communication skills.
– Self-reflection on leadership styles and values.
– Goal setting with the GROW model.
By the end, participants returned to their communities equipped with practical leadership tools and a commitment to lead with authenticity, empathy, and purpose within the Rwanda Scouts Association and beyond.
