From June 21 to 22, 2025, the Rwanda Scouts Association Headquarters hosted a dynamic two-day training session aimed at equipping members of the National Youth Forum Committee with practical project management skills. The training was organized under the Youth for Environmental Preservation Project, a youth-led initiative promoting active participation in climate-related development efforts.
The objective of the workshop was to build the capacity of young leaders to design, implement, and monitor community projects with structure, purpose, and impact. A core principle of the Youth for Environmental Preservation initiative is youth ownership ensuring that young people take the lead in managing and overseeing the project from start to finish. This training served as a vital step in preparing them to fulfill that role effectively.
The agenda featured a blend of foundational concepts and practical applications, covering topics such as the project cycle, key elements of a project lifespan, principles of project management, log-frame design, stakeholder and beneficiary engagement, and results-based monitoring and evaluation. Participants also explored essential aspects of resource mobilization, including identifying needs, sourcing support, and effective communication strategies.
True to its youth-centered approach, the training adopted an interactive and participatory methodology. Sessions combined expert presentations with group discussions, teamwork exercises, and hands-on activities that encouraged peer learning and real-time application of skills.
The Rwanda Scouts Association continues to prioritize youth empowerment through initiatives like this, ensuring that young people are not only engaged but equipped to drive sustainable change within their communities.
