Rwanda's bid to host the world scout conference - 2027 in KIGALI, RWANDA

The Rwanda Scouts Association is excited to host the 44th World Scout Conference in Kigali, with 173 Scout Associations participating. Since starting in the 1950s, Scouting in Rwanda has grown significantly in how it’s managed, grown, and partnered with others to benefit children and youth. With support from the Rwandan government secured, we are confident in our ability to make this event a success. We can’t wait to welcome you to Remarkable Rwanda!

Why Rwanda

Rwanda is a small, land-locked country located in East Central Africa. Rwanda has a population of about 13.5 million people. Major economic sectors include tourism, mining, and agriculture. The three official languages are Kinyarwanda, English, and French. Rwanda has become Africa’s destination of choice for international meetings and event organizers.The country has successfully hosted several high-level, large conferences, including the following:

  • Cybertech Africa – 2020 with 1,000 delegates
  • International Conference on AIDS & STIs in Africa – 2019 with 7,000 delegates
  • Africa CEO forum – 2019 with 1,500 delegates
  • International Meeting on Family Planning – 2018 with 3,500 delegates
  • African Union Summit – 2018 with 4,000 delegates
  • AORTIC conference – 2017 with 1,000 delegates
  • Youth Connect Africa 2018 with 2,000 delegates
  • Meeting of Parties to the Montreal Protocol – 2016 with 1,000 delegates
  • World Economic Forum on Africa – 2016 with 2,500 delegates, Etc.

Kigali Convention Centre

Building on its successful hosting capabilities, Rwanda’s Kigali Convention Center has been the venue for numerous significant events, reinforcing its status as a premier conference destination. In collaboration with the Government of Rwanda through the Ministry of Youth and Culture; The Kigali Convention Center was recommended as the venue for the World Scout Conference 2027 and stands out as a premier facility for regional and international events. Located alongside the luxurious Radisson Blu Hotel, it is renowned as Africa’s most modern convention centre. Modelled after a Rwandan King’s Palace, its architectural centrepiece is a striking dome. Spanning over 32,000 m2, the KCC offers customizable exhibition spaces and 17 versatile meeting rooms. Key features include a state-of-the-art auditorium accommodating up to 4,500 delegates. It boasts spacious pre-function areas, modern AV equipment, VIP holding rooms, an on-site health clinic, ATMs, and ample parking. Dining options, including a restaurant, bar, and auditorium club, enhance its appeal. The centre also offers incentives like complimentary clinic and prayer rooms, free parking, high-speed internet, and advanced technology solutions, ensuring a seamless experience for all attendees.
